Aspects of Patrick Murphy’s organ building philosophy can be seen in the design of the signature organ consoles. These low profile consoles were designed to be not only superior musical instruments, but also beautiful high-quality architectural pieces of art.
The design, with its low profile, 2 or 3 manual, vertical or terraced drawknob arrangements, has everything positioned within easy reach while allowing the organist an unobstructed view of the room. Not only does this enhance the overall visual and esthetic experience, the design promotes the practical and functional relationship between the organist or choirmaster and the musical experience for accompanying liturgy the congregation, or the choir.
These elegant consoles with their clear, clean sight lines make for a compact, elegant, and highly functional instrument. Patrick Murphy calls these his “high tech-high touch” models because of their modern internal functionality joined with high quality attention to detail and craftsmanship. As well, he takes pride in the fact that he has embellished these consoles with the best aspects of 19th and 20th century craftsmanship, such as toe-stud bolsters and fine keyboard detail, while encapsulating the solid features of modern instruments including the use of elegant state-of-the art control systems and hardware for quality conservatory performances.
Customizing the Signature Consoles
Our signature consoles may be customized. We can modify and add additional accessories, embellish cabinetry, and expand the drawknob capabilities, as well as other artistic, visual, or musical modifications.
