After replacing the original 38-year-old pipe organ with an electronic substitute in 1969, the congregation of St. John’s has once again decided that the pipe organ is the most durable and suitable instrument for their needs. This two manual unit instrument of 8 stops, and 10 ranks is carefully designed to maximize a corner installation while allowing flexibility within an austere tonal framework. The key action is electro-mechanical, using our own windchests and Peterson solid-state switching systems. To enhance the newly-remodeled interior, the instrument was complemented by a handsome case of oak designed by Charles A. Ford for Patrick J. Murphy & Assoc., Inc. Installation was performed in 1997.
