St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church

Summer of 2005 we installed the gallery instrument for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. The 12 rank, 10 stop instrument was built to compliment the 1959 Schantz organ in the chancel. The gallery division is playable from the Great, Choir and Pedal divisions, and it replaces a chambered echo division. Tonally, the gallery organ is well-rounded and able to support most organ literature on its own. When added to the chancel organ, it adds to the tonal pallet, and helps in drawing the chancel instrument further into the room. The reeds are quite full and romantic as a contrast to the fiery french reeds in the chancel organ. The diapason chorus is full and topped with a 3 rank Mixture, while the strings are voiced to act as echo strings with the box closed, but can fill the room when the shades are opened. The free-standing case is quarter sawn oak stained and trimmed to match the interior appointments of the sanctuary. In spring 2005, during the installation of the gallery organ, the reservoirs for the main chancel organ were re-leathered. The console was completely rebuilt with a new software-based multi-level control system that controls both the main chancel organ and the gallery instrument. The keyboards and pedalboards were also completely rebuilt as well. Andrew Heller is the organist for St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ardmore.
